Spices

There are many spices that we as Americans haven't even touched upon because our general market does not even sale them, but you visit quaint foreign stores you may be able to find all the spices you want. Here is a list of common spices we can find at most stores, their use, their origin, and where they can be grown.

Allspice cakes, pies, and sweets (can be used for marinades, pickling, and meats) originated in the West this spice can be grown in tropical regions.

Anise cakes, breads, and sweets (can be used for soups and fish) originated in the Mediterranean this spice can be grown indoors for those in colder regions.

Basil marinades and vegetables originated in the East this spice can be grown in pots at the end of March.

Bay Leaf fish and soups originated in Asia Minor this spice can be grown indoors during the winter.

Caraway breads, cheeses, and meat originated in Africa this spice can be grown outdoors in a sunny area.
